Ok, the moment I heard that they were remaking the Karate Kid movie, I was rather skeptical about it. Give it a couple of weeks, hearing my friend talk about it a couple of times, then finally having a look at the trailer, I was rather surprised. I might take back my doubts about this remake this time (other recent movie remakes are so disappointing.....)

Gyu-Kaku Japanese BBQ
One more post about my recent travels. I saw this sign down in Little Tokyo several times, only had till recently to take a picture of it. Gave me a good laugh everytime I saw it.
Next is about a Japanese BBQ restaurant nearby in Pasadena, CA. I've never heard of this place until recently and after going there last night for my cousin's birthday, I look forward to another trip there. Now, I only went there once so I can't give a full on review, but just from my first time there, it was a nice experience.

It's still the same deal as a Korean BBQ place. They offer all you can eat meat that you grill at your table. The sides were also very delicious! I think there was no side they brought out that wasn't pushed aside. And that's not all....to make things so much better after all the meat.....
Is Smores!!!!!!!!! and not only that!- the Smores are all you can eat also!!!! woo hoo!!!

We easily went through 3 plates worth (well 2 plates. My other cousin took on the last plate, 6 smores worth, all by himself). Don't see this in any Korean BBQ >

A Trip to my work Cubicle
G'day. I haven't had some time lately to work on my 4komas so there won't be one for this week (sorry). I will try and double it up for next week. In the meantime, I ended up bringing my camera to my workplace and decided to show off my work area and how I anime'd it up. I'll keep the notes short as to not lengthen this post up longer.
The cubicles have small "window sills"; nice to put my figure up on! ^^ I guess this one's my animatronic sill.

My petit nendorid haruhi set w/ the haruhi figma clubroom background.
This has some of my favorite sayings from different anime/manga (except the upper left and center ones). The second from the top is from Evangelion, within the SEELE logo (I forget what it says atm). The lower left is from an Ah! My Goddess manga saying "After rain there's sunshine".
My Yotsuba calendar.
Papercraft of the head of Eva Unit-01.

And here's my view from my seat in front of my work laptop.
And to close, I just received this on my way home from work! ^^ I was excited I finally got the Mio Akiyama Figma.
I was torn between keeping it in the box or opening it since I only have this one at the moment -_-. Well, while in the middle of setting up this blog, Playasia.com had orders open for her and I ordered another. I don't feel as bad now if I let this Mio free of her packaged prison.

Happy Chinese New Year!!
Although I am not one that normally celebrates the holiday, I couldn't pass up an opportunity to make a picture with Aisaka Taiga from Toradora. So to all of you that do celebrate: have a Happy Chinese New year! Welcoming in the year of the TAIGA (Tiger) !!!!

And for this week's 4koma, part 2 of last weeks:

I seem to be delayed in my postings. Either because I have other things on my mind or there's not much to discuss or a bit of both. I'll try and keep up with some regular postings rather than once a week ones....

4koma comics +random pics
Here are some random figure pictures I've done, ranging from just yesterday to about 1 year ago. There hasn't been much that I could discuss lately (I could talk about the new figmas to come that were revealed this past Sunday from the GSC and Max Factory show in Japan, but I'll save that for another post) so I decided to share some of these pics I took...
Shana w/ oversized Alastor

Figma Cute (from the Queens blade PSP game)

These two Mio pics were fun to do!

And for this week's 4koma. That's kinda what these are being called, so I'll start referring to them as such.
A bit of a back story about this: Konata is one that is rather familiar with Japanese Ero games, and Kagami is somewhat aware of her...knowledge of such games.
This one's actually a 2-part 4koma so the second will appear next week.
Have a nice day!

Touhou - Bad Apple
If you usually go to dannychoo, you probably came across this at some point while looking around in there. I was a bit late on looking at it and then looking out of curiosity, I immediately got hooked! Both in the way it was made and the song itself! I'd like to try and find that song somewhere...
Kinda interesting how it came (more) popular recently, although I don't know the entire story: something about CNN featuring it but incorrectly explaining it's origins, and that's pissed all Touhou and Otaku fans off... I don't have as much Touhou knowledge myself, but seeing it's popularity, I wouldn't mind getting hooked ^^
Here's the video - all done w/ stop motion frames. I'd urge to watch the first video first before seeing the second. You might have to also watch it from youtube itself (double click the screen) since I noticed one of my previous videos got clipped when I watched from my friend's laptop.
The second one shows it in a different view. I don't know if I'd call it a making of- but it gives an idea of how much effort was put into making it. I love how they implemented the 'background' to match the 'screen'.
Yep, 6500+ frames! That's nuts!!!! Anyways, Kudos to the makers of this most amazing video!!!

Weekly Comic + extra pic.
So here's the one I promised which pretty much summarizes what I believe most k-on and figma fans are going through these past few weeks. The times in the comic are a bit exaggerated but, hey, that's how it feels: you miss it and you'll be out of luck! I still can't believe how ridiculous the preorders go....
I felt pretty sad for the two while I was creating this. I think to counter it, I'll make another one up later with a happier ending ^^.
Next was just another picture with an idea I've had for a while. Inspiration came from "Tropic Thunder". I shouldn't need to explain more:
