Finally!...

I've finally done my first post on figure.fm and made myself known through the community! I'll still be posting here as normally as I do. It looks like the 4komas that I've shown are starting to be a hit, seeing a lot of people commenting about them already.

I am not sure how much more traffic I will be getting here after making my debut but we'll see how it comes along.

And if you are coming in here from figure.fm, welcome and I hope you enjoy my blog. I have the other 4komas I mentioned already in here so if you would want to see what I will be posting up next.

Profile Name Change

Since I think I'll start finding myself creating posts up in figure.fm fairly soon, I decided to change my profile name the same as the name I have up there. I think it'll keep things more organized imo. So from now, I'll be using the profile name "Maikeru to".

My profile name is actually a parody of the manga "Yotsuba to"("Yotsuba &" in US). In this sense you can guess what my first name is.

Because Text-Only is so boring! Part 1

I realize that all my AX coverage in earlier posts were all in text and no pictures to show off so here are some of the more notable ones I got. I'll post in 3 separate posts, first Location and events, 2nd nice cosplayers, and 3rd funny cosplayers:

Nokia Theatre

Danny Choo in the Dancing Stormtrooper Suit to start off the event. Even did some dancing on stage.

1st Day Crowdiness

Danny @ his first panel on Saturday.

Danny's 'daughter' Saber came along as well to attend AX.

Sunday morning. Used this image for the week's photo theme in 6 inches.

Saturday Crowdiness in the Exhibit Hall.

Danny again rallying up his dedicated follwers!

Highlight of Saturday: Meeting Danny @ the meet-and-greet at the ESPN Zone and having him sign my Mirai dakimakura pillow cover. His hand covered up what he wrote but it says "Please Look After Mirai! -Danny Choo 2010.7.3 AX". This is the first image of showing myself on my blog, btw.

More 'daughters' showed up for Danny's sunday panel.

Danny switching to his iPad for showing up on the projector.

One more picture of me and Danny after Sunday's panel.

Finally, a picture of Katsuyuki Konishi for Sunday's autograph signing (looked exhausted b/c of his schedule).

K that's part 1 of my AX images. I was gonna jump straight into parts 2 and 3, but think I'll cover those later this week.

Random Thought

Yeah, I know it's summer and all, but damn, it's almost 7:30 and it's still bright as hell outside!!

AX 2010 Day 4 - Final day T_T

Unfortunately, all good things.....well you know the rest. It was the last day and I guess it didn't disappoint:
  • Day started off waiting in line for Danny Choo's final panel. Was like 5th in line, with an hour wait (didn't open the hall until 8). had some BRS Cosplayers there, pretty nice. Danny came up early and was pretty amazed with the line already there, and took a picture of it. I think I'll be shown on his site in various spots.
  • Come the panel, somewhat the same deal as his previous panel. I got my exact same spot as before. Saber was sitting up again, and more people were ready and brought their daughters up as well, as compared to the first panel (I think some forgot to bring their daughters). Showed 2 exclusive trailers of BRS, and I totally regret that I didn't take a video of both of them! Showed a good portion of the Culture:Japan episode. Same one shown earlier but more extended.
  • And for his giveaway, I was in awe when he showed a BRS Figma on the screen and thought "Holy crap! is he gonna give that away here? now?". But it's actually more a contest on his site. Basically, find yourself in the photo,  photo mark where you are and Danny will pick 2 of the many, and they will win. Seems that I'll need to be more active on figure.fm and dannychoo.com for this!
  • Exhibit hall was 10-3. and the time flew very fast. oh before that, I was able to get an autograph from Katsuyuki Konishi, voice of Kamina. Short story on him, he flew into LAX on Saturday, straight to AX for the sat. night panel, straight into autographs the next morning and heard he had to fly out on Sun. quite a hectic schedule he has...
  • K back to Ex hall. Buying day! got my gifts, got my stuff, but it was crazy rushing around. I actually ended up pacing myself this year pretty well. I actually retained a whole day's worth of what I thought I would spend. And with all that, I bought stuff that I wanted and I don't think there was anything there that I didn't regret not getting. If anything, there's next year.
  • I sometimes feel sad hearing when they announce that the exhibit hall closed, so I left the room 5 min. before. I ended up doing the same thing as I did on Sat and stuck around to take more pictures. Again, there were some very nice ones and some funny ones.
  • And with that, thus marks the end of my experience with Anime Expo 2010.
Final Day purchases (may be quite a bit):
  • CD of May'n, singing voice of Sheryl Nome (I listened through the whole thing and I can't help but imagine Sheryl as the one singing these ><)
  • Aksys Xbox 360 Shoot-em-up (shmup, and they call it) Deathsmiles
  • Kotobukiya figure of Dizzy, Guilty Gear figure with the Queens Gate version.
  • 2 Japanese umbrellas (Gifts for my cousins)
  • Shinai (Gift for my other cousin)
  • 13 prints from the Artist Alley (2 landscape prints, gift for my friend; 3 Naruto prints; 2 Samus Aran, 1 Momohime; 1 Yui; 2 BRS; 1 Mio; 1 Rei&Asuka)
  • 15 Hentai Doujin.
So now another year has to pass until AX 2011, the 20'th anniversary! Wonder how that one will go (with all the negative things I've been hearing about these last few years). And something I thought even on Day 0 as I came across the first Cosplayers: I am committing to cosplaying for next year's Anime Expo! The one that I have not seen yet was Ryu Hayabusa so I am going to dedicate some time this day, the day after AX 2010 up until Day 0 of AX 2011 to get myself fit so that I won't look like just some fat ninja. Hey now there's motivation to get more exersise in my routine! Either ryu or Strider Hiryu. I am contemplating...

AX 2010 Day 3

Wow! I had so much fun today, It's only making me sad that tomorrow's the last day until another 359 days till AX 11. Well, here's today's summary:
  • Again, in the exhibit hall line early. Hearing of the ones in front and behind me about the Yui Horie autograph sigining. Didn't go as how they expected it to go and essentially they felt pretty screwed. They were having another autograph signing at the opening of the exhibit hall, and although I wasn't in line for that, I wished them luck on getting those autographs.
  • Attended the final portion of a panel explaining that manga and anime are forms of art and shouldn't be looked down upon, especially from those that aren't inclined to manga and anime. A 2nd part of the panel is to be shown tomorrow, but I'm having conflicts with what I want/need to do tomorrow. I'll have it figured out before I leave home.
  • Was debating whether to go to Danny Choo/FAKKU's meetup at the ESPNzone, but after seeing Danny at the event prior to that, I commited to going.
  • And as a bonus, I brought my dakimakura pillow cover of Mirai for him to sign, and It Went Superbly!!! I was within 5-10 min. after he finished his talks and all those prior to me getting to him were only displaying their badges for him to sign, I was the first to bring up the pillow cover! Sweet! I loved his reactions on seeing it: amazement, jokingly smelling it, showing off the other side to everyone else hee hee! Took a few pictures and saw others too taking pictures so I am glad that I went through with it! I only wished I had more time to speak to him rather than 'Hi-A pleasure to meet you-can you sign this---Thank you very much!' but he was pretty much being mobbed by everyone around. Thank you Danny for coming to AX!!!! You're the BEST!!!
  • um ok moving on. Of course this being Saturday, this was the most crowded of the days, so there were a heap load of people dressing up and I got some very good and very funny pictures of cosplayers! All great!
  • I stayed a while after the exhibit hall closed to take more pictures and checked out the goings on back and forth between the convention center and Nokia Plaza. ended up staying there 2 hours post-exhibit hall closing. Really, It went by so fast!!!!
  • I'm actually finding myself restraining from overbuying in the exhibit hall. that's pretty good! I still got to get some gifts for others tomorrow. I hope I can make time with the panels I want to see tomorrow...
Spoils:
  • 2 more prints (1 of C.C., 1 of K-ON girls in 'Listen!' attire)
  • 1 Hentai game from J-List (Family Project)
  • gifts for 2 people so far (1 AX kids shirt for my nephew, and 1 Naruto themed bag for my cousin's girlfriend, the one that went to last year's AX)
  • 9 more Hentai Doujin (Gold Rush, P-FOREST, and Kohakutei)
Lets hope for the best that tomorrow was just as enjoyable as it was today! The last days are always rather disappointing since come the days end, it's back to normal usual life. But I am keeping in mind what Danny has continued to say at the end of his speeches this AX (more or less his words): "Anime Fandom is not something to be embarrased or ashamed of, but rather one should be proud of it."

AX 2010 Day 2

Ok, so my other cousin's invited me to dinner yesterday, and I didn't bet back until like 11, so I wasn't able to update. Here it is:
  • Lined up early for the exhibit hall. Although wait was 2 hours, the time flew by while I was playing Lumines ><
  • Main part of day was for the first panel of AX to feature Danny Choo. So, did early exhibit hall runs then went to the panel. Sat through the previous panel that featuring RSP, and was able to get an end seat 2nd from front. IMO probably one of the best spots to observe Danny during the panel. Many pictures of Danny and many of his 'daugther' Saber. Think that was the best it could get?...
  • After the panel, I was able to quickly move up and greet him personally! I also took a picture of him and me and also an autograph, impromptly, in my sketch book! uber-awesome!!!!!! I never thought that it could get any better! I actually found myself in some of his pictures he featured on his site about the event ^^.
  • Cosplayers galore. Got pics of some good ones, and some not so good ones (sorry to say) but still worth taking a picture of.
  • Got a few plays in on Blaz Blue Continuum Shift with formally Nu-13. Won 2-3 matches against others, but the times that I did lose were against the ones that have been constantly playing. I haven't played in a while so I was rusty ><
K, That was what I've remembered at the moment. Here are the day's treasures:
  • 2 more Nendoroid Petit Noel's. One of which I have dedicated as one of my travel photo pal (I have already set up the picture for the 6 inches weekly theme).
  • 2 shirts from J-Link (1 Touhou featuring Marisa parodying Final Fantasy, 1 Haruhi themed one, supposedly, saying on front 'I don't have interest in ordinary humans')
  • 2 prints featuring Noel and Taokaka, looks worthy of being framed up!
  • 9 Hentai doujin, varying from Gold Rush and P-FOREST doujins
  • And of course, my photo and autograph of Danny Choo!

Day 1

So I've survived Day 1. Here are the results:
  • did as I said and didn't line up for the exhibit hall. probably  didn't matter in the end since near opening, I already found people entering from all directions (eh?) so I just blended in.
  • Cosplayers a plenty, yet not much to strike out on my list. Hope to find some in these next few days.(Maybe I made the list this year more challenging ><)
  • Attended the opening ceremony for once and saw what it was about. At least I have gotten a glimpse of Danny Choo even if I am not able to get in one of his panels or the meet-up on Sat; although he was in his full Dancing Stormtrooper outfit, so I never got a glimpse of his face.
  • Blaz Blue Continuum Shift looks like the talk of the fighting game genre town. got a glimpse of it and was impressed. Can't wait until the release in July.
  • Feet was aching a lil bit at the end of the day. My cousin decided that we have Korean BBQ right afterwards.
  • And now home and getting ready for the second excursion into the fray ><
And now the spoils of war:
  • Gurren Lagann Movie -Childhood's End- LE. Came with a bag with purchase and a pass to get an autograph from the Japanese Voice Actor of Kamina on Sunday!
  • 2 Hentai Tanks (as I've heard it called. basically graphic novels) by Yamatogawa: Witchcraft and Taihen yoku dekimashita?
  • 8 Prints: 5 consisting of the K-ON Girls, and 3 from the same popular artist containing BlackRock Shooter, Zelda, and Mio Akiyama
  • AX 2010 T-Shirt
  • And probably the best and surprising of today's spoils: the Nendoroid Petit figure of Noel Vermillion! got 2x but might get at least 1 more tomorrow.
So awesome and cute!!!
